Description
Technique used: Acrylics on wood Background: This has been an ongoing project for quite a while, but it was not until now I felt I had achieved the skills to complete it. It started with a photo I took of my son on a warm and calm summers day when the sky and the sea blended together in a absolutely stunning way. I tried to recreate that calmness and add something spectacular as well, to create an impression of "every-day sci fi". You judge how well it went.

I think this is a really striking piece. It has nice composition with the small character to the left of the picture in the bottom, and the city to the right in the top. Really helps the eye to travel around the picture. I like what you have with some of the clouds but it is a little unclear what happened to the bottom part of the city. I assume it is covered in clouds or mist, but the colors make it a little unclear that the bottom part of the sky is not the same as the top part of the sky. Also, I think it's good to try to create a foreground like you have with the black shape running across the bottom, but I think you could take it further, even with some small shapes like bushes or rocks to show us that the black is supposed to be closer than the green where the person is standing.
